RISK ASSESSMENT

"We would argue that any assessment of the likelihood of sexual offending should be broad and involve more than a simple documentation of the level of risk. It should also contribute information that can guide risk management" (Craig et al. 2008)

"Although central to the process of assessment, an evaluation of the risk of re-offending is only part of the task. Effective practioners with a responsibility for assessing a sex offender's risk will use a variety of tools in determining risk. These will include actuarial, psychometric and clinical approaches".
(Sullivan & Beech 2004)

Clinical_Services_GirlThose who engage in harmful sexual behaviour towards children are not a homogenous group and transcend stereotypes, professions and age.

Increasingly individuals are engaging in technologically facilitated child sexual abuse. Mentor has extensive experience and has undertaken research into working with individuals where the internet and/or other technology have been a part of their problematic behaviour towards children.   All our work is based on specialist understanding gained through many years of working with this cohort and up-to-date evidence- based practice.   We are renowned for our comprehensive reports which are an essential component of the service we provide to referrers.

Mentor recognises the need to work specifically and often distinctly with adults and young people. For more information on our services in respect of these groups click below.
